Rob
Van Uffelen's picture framing business first started in
the Netherlands 30 years ago. In 1985 he and his
wife Grietje and teenage sons Kai, Lars and Niels immigrated
to New Zealand.
In
Palmerston North, the Van Uffelens took over a picture
framing business situated at Dahlia Street. It
expanded and in 1993 they made the shift to the present
premises
in Princess Street. The Van Uffelen Gallery prides
itself in stocking the widest sample collection of mouldings
in New Zealand. "Customers come from afar to
choose the right combination to put around their artwork",
says Rob Van Uffelen.
The
staff work closely with clients, be
it a child's drawing from kindergarten or a beautiful
piece of original artwork, you can be assured that your
work will receive
all the attention it needs. Van
Uffelen Gallery specialises in object framing such as sports
jerseys, medals, ballet shoes, you name it, they will frame
it.
You will receive useful advice on what is
the best possible way to
display
your artwork.
Several
staff of Van Uffelen Gallery hold the professional
degree of "Guild
Commended Framer" or GCF. This notation, which
is recognised worldwide as a prime qualification for picture
framers, can only be used with their name, after
a rigorous standardised test has been passed. By
becoming a GCF, the Van Uffelens have gained the UK's one
and only framing qualification, and they have demonstrated
their commitment to the business of art and framing to supply
goods and services of a consistently high standard to their
customers.
Ability
and expertise are backed by a sound understanding of various
types of artwork. Taking care of them
by framing them in a manner which is appropriate and when
necessary using conservation materials, will ensure your
artwork will stay in optimum condition.
To
assist in creating a perfect job, the Van Uffelens recently
installed in their workshop the
newest computerised mattboard cutter
"The Gunnar", made in Switzerland.
"We
can cut almost any design imaginable. You show us
your preferred design and we can try to cut it." says Lars.
Our
art gallery has a wide range of original artwork of local
and NZ artists. We stock an extensive
collection of catalogues from printers/suppliers from all
over the world.
There
is a designated corner in the gallery, between the gallery
and the restaurant, where you can sit
and browse at your leisure to choose the right print for
your decor.
The
newest addition to this family business is the cafe restaurant
"The Gallery", which is integrated with the picture
framing gallery with a walkthrough.
If you want to visit the gallery or the
restaurant, you can park your car either on Pricess Street
or on Church Street. There is a walkthrough which connects
both parts of the business. |
